A Lesson Learned

As I posted on Saturday I preached on Sunday at our church. I filled in for Pastor Ken who was suffering from the effects of the flu. I decided to preach a message I first preached some 25 years ago. Now over the years I have refined, improved, and added to this sermon. What lesson did I learn on Sunday? When you add to a message it can get to long to give in the alotted time! While I was preaching Sunday, I discovered very quickly I had to much material for the 35 minutes I had to preach. So I did what I had to do. I started making decisions on what I would preach and what I would skip over.
Preaching is a very dynamic exercise that I throughly enjoy doing. If you would of told me when I was in High School that I would one day in the future stand before people and talk about the Bible I would have said you were crazy. As a matter of fact I remember taking a zero on an oral report because I was afraid to get up in front of a class full of my peers. I credit this change in my life to the grace of God and I thank Him for it. If you are interested, the link to my message on Sunday can be found on this page.
