Cutthroat Scrabble

Back in 2005 Benita and I visited Reno Nevada. I went to play in the National Scrabble Tournament and she went to see some of the sights. After I got back home I did an interview with our local newspaper about my experiences at the tournament. The lady who wrote the article called me on my cell phone while I was driving in my car. (Something that I get upset with other people doing when I see them on the road driving 20 miles an hour under the speed limit!)We talked for about 20 minutes as she asked me many questions.Several weeks later the article, with Benita and my picture added, were included in the paper. It was funny how I was qouted saying some things I did not say, and how she added things that were not true. For instance she talked about us playing with wooden tiles. Although most scrabble games are played this way, tournament scrabble games are played with plastic tiles so people cannot feel for the smooth wooden tiles as they search for one of the two blank tiles. Despite all of this it was kind of neat to see our pictures in the paper and have several people we known contact us and let us know they saw it too. In case you missed it I have posted a picture of it down below.
This years nationals are in Orlando in July. Not sure yet if I want to be in Orlando in July! We will see.
